Megacon 2010
To start off, I went to Megacon '07 and '08, but missed '09 due to unfortunate money issues. But anyway, Megacon 2010 was, in my opinion, the best one. My opinion may have been bent by personal factors; however, I think it really came down to the theme. If Megacon '10 were said to have a ceratin movie or show as a theme, there's only one thing that most people would think of: Ghostbusters. I mean, they had everything! The selection ranged from the big things (like the Ecto-1 and the Vigo painting) to the small stuff (like PKE meters, mood slime, and the little gizmo Venkman uses in the first movie to test Dana's apartment). To help sum it up here's a picture...
I'm the buster with the sunglasses in the bottom row, kneeling down! I was even given the honor to sit in the Ecto-1 and mess with the gadgets they had. The con was like a Ghostbuster Mecca! There were organized teams coming from anywhere between the Palm Coast and the mid-west, even the Central Oklahoma Ghostbusters. They were all nice, and great to hang with, so hopefully they do this again next year.
Anyway, lets talk about the rest of the con. It actually stayed nice and cool in the building, so there wasn't the normal Florida problem of stinky, hot people. The only real issue I've read about was that people didn't like that there were multiple events in the OCCC this time around. We're mainly talking about the cheerleaders in the last hall next to us. Friday and Saturday, most of them were like scared of all of us (including the parents) and were quite rude; but by Sunday they'd been converted, and were running around outside the gate. They were even taking pictures with a lot of us and doing cheers! It was hilarious to watch the cheerleaders come enjoy our world while the parents stood back looking at us strangely.
Finally, conventions are always great for catching up with old friends and meeting plenty of new people. I even saw friends that I didn't even expect to be there, and it was great to have fun with everyone who attended. For some reason, though, I was the only one in my group to enjoy it! So, that's my Megacon '10 convention report. I didn't get very many pictures, but you can view them after the break.
Oh, and one final note: I don't care what anyone says, these people won for most awesome cosplay, mainly because I never would've expected it!
